Dec. 19th, 2018 03:05 pm-- Despite trying to put up a brave front at times, he's actually quite timid and cowardly; he's nervous in fights, gets even more unnerved against stronger people, and while he is confident enough to reap souls in some cases, he usually needs the help of others to actually manage things (though he may not even know it). He still gets help from some other Shinigami who like him when it comes to reaping in most cases.
-- He tends towards hiding behind "crutches", such as when he used his father's title to hide his own fears and insecurities. While he's gotten better about it and no longer tries to use said title (either his biological father's or his adoptive father Gauvain's), he still shows his age sometimes and ends up hiding behind or relying on others more than he needs to -- or should. During one Overlord using a particularly frightening display to essentially make a "demonic hell", he outright cling to Fenrich's tail until he was called out on it -- and then went right back to doing it without thinking when they started dealing with the illusions.
-- Despite this, he still really wants to get strong enough to be able to do things on his own and get respect for his own accomplishments and power. It's a long road to that, and he knows it, but he's determined to do his best to get there!
-- Even so, he is still a child who was heavily neglected by his biological father, and as such, he can't help a certain level of clinginess towards his new adoptive set (Gauvain and Fenrich). The fact that Gauvain often initiates hugs or holding him doesn't help that, only prompting Emizel's neglected nature to reach out and grasp, meaning that he can sometimes grab or touch people he feels close to or likes without really thinking of it. Holding onto Fenrich's tail when deeply terrified is one instance of it, though he's less open with Fenrich because of the man's aggressive nature. He does know that Fenrich loves him, though, and if he's feeling incredibly upset or scared he'll reach out to him for comfort.
-- He's nervous around women or girls, and generally tends to doormat for them and go along with what they say mostly so they won't get worse about whatever they're doing; at least, that's his excuse, though he seems to genuinely believe girls just get more violent or irritating if you don't do what they say. He doesn't like them romantically, either, though Emizel generally doesn't think much about that (as he's not yet found anyone he has a crush on yet).
-- He really, really hates being talked down to, and can get very irritable and upset whenever someone uses a condescending nickname or term of address, whether it's something as simple as "child" or "boy" or even something like "rascal". He wants to be treated with respect and doesn't think his age should matter, while most everyone else just thinks of a child trying too hard to be an adult.
-- He has a short temper and can be pissed off easily, though this usually just leads to yelling -- yelling that most people ignore, making him even more irritated and driving him to yell louder until he either gets tired of it or everyone walks off, at which point he goes quiet and follows while being surly.
-- Because of his need to be "an adult", he can sometimes get frustrated at things he doesn't understand; never mind the fact that, being so young, it's impossible for him to fully get anything, and even older demons won't know everything. While he can usually just adapt to and try to figure it out, if he's particularly determined or if it's something extremely abnormal, it can trigger this part of his temper -- though since it's frustration and insecurity causing it, someone being patient enough to help can usually defuse it fast.
